Handwoven by Flying Shuttle Weavers
Handmade in Guatemala
Designed in USA
Inspired by mid-century styles, our Palm Springs Collection of handwoven tea and hand towels adds a unique vibe to your home whether you decide to use them in your kitchen, bathrooms or powder room.
Why Palm Springs? Well, Palm Springs, California, has the largest concentration of preserved mid-century modernarchitecture in the world. Visionary architects came to Palm Springs and brought their own spin on Bauhaus and the International Style, reworking it for the desert environment.
Each towel is individually handwoven by master weavers in the San Marcos region of Guatemala using traditional foot loom techniques and exclusively designed by Mozaïque in the USA. Each towel is made of more than 1080 threads and the artisan used the shuttle about 900 times.
Mozaïque works directly with the Altiplano Weavers - a network of master weavers in rural areas in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. More than six individuals, women and men, are involved in the production of each piece and only the weaving process itself takes about an hour.
We approach the production process holistically and transparently as Mozaique is directly involved: from sourcing of the raw fibre, dyeing, designing, weaving, packaging and quality control.
